TOGETHER towards efficient and sustainable transition in social care

Together Towards Efficient and Sustainable Transition in Social Care focuses on supporting the deinstitutionalisation process by developing a comprehensive training programme. The programme equips managers and staff with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage DI, reflecting current social care trends across Europe. Our goal is to promote inclusive, person-centred services and full community integration.

Ending Segregation in Institutions

“Across the European Union, hundreds of thousands of people with disabilities, mental health problems, older people or abandoned and vulnerable children live in large segregated residential institutions. Such institutions were originally created to provide care, food and shelter, but by now evidence has shown that they cannot ensure person-centred services and appropriate support needed to bring about full inclusion. The physical separation from communities and families severely limits the capacity and preparedness of those living in or growing up in institutions to participate fully in their community and wider society.”

Deinstitutionalisation

DEINSTITUTIONALISATION (DI; i.e. a process of transition from institutional to community-based social care) is our mission. DI is part of the EU strategies for several decades. The level of progress varies among different EU countries. Especially the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEE) are still at the beginning of the whole process.

Preparing for DI Success

In order to make the DI happen, all the relevant stakeholders (people with disabilities and their families, management and employees of the residential institutins, representatives of public authorities, municipalities etc.) need to be well prepared.

Training for DI Management

People responsible for the DI practical implementation (i.e. employees/managers of institutional care providers and employees of the public entities/founders of the social care institutions) have to undergo a comprehensive training where they would get necessary information how to manage the DI process effectively and successfully.
